The Web Game Dev Starter Kit: Tools, Tips & Tricks
Is making a good web game as simple as porting a mobile or Steam title that performed well into the browser? (Spoiler: it’s not.) In this talk, Romy shares the ins and outs of designing specifically for the web, and why understanding browser players from the very start makes all the difference. She’ll dive into engines and tools you can use, important game design tips, and smart strategies to consider before you even begin designing. While there’s no magic formula for success, focusing on what actually matters for web players can dramatically boost your chances of making a hit.
Speaker Bio

Romy’s been working across the games industry since 2017, from helping devs and publishers connect, to co-founding a small web game studio with her partner. Currently, she’s Business Development Manager at Poki, on the lookout for the next web hit game and teaming up with big brands to bring them into the browserverse.
She lives in Utrecht next to a graveyard with her three cats, commutes to the Poki office in Amsterdam, and plays a lot of games (all in the name of research, obviously).
In her downtime, she runs whimsical D&D campaigns and reads fantasy series like it’s a competitive sport.
