In this talk, Romy will dive into the challenges faced by both developers and ‘business people’ as they navigate the constantly shifting landscape of balancing business needs with creative aspirations during game development.

From indie studios to established AAA developers, finding the sweet spot where artistic innovation meets financial viability is a huge challenge during game development. Romy will discuss the various tensions that arise, from budget constraints and market trends to artistic integrity and player engagement.

Speaker Bio

Romy Halfweeg

Romy started in the gaming industry in 2017 when she interned at the Dutch Game Garden. After that, she started working at MeetToMatch as Event Manager in 2018. With a university background in games and management, she aimed for a business role, and thus became Partnerships Manager at Robot Teddy in 2022.

That year, she also founded her own studio, Benri Games. In 2023, she joined Paladin Studios as Business Developer, where she pitched new Paladin games to publishers and respond to co-development requests for proposals.
